Congratulations go out to Jared Bednar, the “decorated” Avalanche coach who never played in the NHL.
Bednar, 47, became a Hall of Famer during the Avs’ nine-day break as he was inducted into the ECHL Hall of Fame on Jan. 21. The ECHL is the double-A of hockey, a step below the NHL’s primary minor-league affiliate, the American Hockey League, in which Bednar also excelled in.
“It was awesome. It was a great honor,” Bednar said of his induction after practice Friday. “Obviously, that’s where I played the bulk of my career, and with a bunch of my best friends still to this day, and to go in with a group of guys that I played against and that I respected … it was fun.
