Expect the Avalanche to be relatively quiet before the Feb. 25 NHL trade deadline.
But that doesn’t mean the Avs won’t take a significant interest in the inevitable movement around the league — and particularly with the Ottawa Senators.
The Senators are reportedly taking offers for their top-scoring forwards in Mark Stone, Matt Duchene and Ryan Dzingel — each a pending unrestricted free agent — while also trying to resign them. If those three players choose to test the free-agent market, each likely will be moved by next week’s deadline and that would definitely benefit the Avs.
