NEWARK, N.J. — From his hotel here Friday night, Avalanche rookie Cale Makar watched the Massachusetts Minutemen play the University of Denver in a rematch of a 2019 NCAA Frozen Four semifinal. The Pioneers rallied to win 4-2 at Magness Arena.
“I watched a little bit of it — most of the second (period) but went to bed before the third,” Makar said Saturday from Prudential Center after the Avs’ morning skate. “It seemed like a good game.”
UMass and DU cap their two-game nonconference series Saturday night in Denver. Makar’s pick: The Minutemen.
