Jordan Binnington is an “old-school” goalie, an eccentric personality who Blues teammates and opponents don’t particularly care for but generally choose to ignore. He’s a perfect example of a guy who wouldn’t fit in if he wasn’t good at stopping pucks.
But making a big deal about Binnington’s peewee-like tantrum in the 4-3 loss to the Avalanche on Thursday night is important because it speaks to how a professional athlete should behave. Young goalies need to realize that Binnington is only in the league because St. Louis puts up with his history of amateur behavior — including a stunt during last year’s playoffs when he attempted to pick a fight with former Avs goalie Philipp Grubauer.
