In what might be a test of patience and resolve for him, the Avalanche hasn't played young goalie Calvin Pickard a game in more than a week.
Pickard, 23, has only practiced since playing half of the Sept. 20 instrasquad scrimmage at the University of Denver. But the Avs' top goaltending prospect is scheduled to play the entire preseason game Tuesday night at Calgary.
"If I'm going to make this team, there's going to be situations where I'm sitting out a week or two, or three. You never know," Pickard said. "You always have to be ready, and sharp.
