Today TSN reported that Colorado Avalanche prospect has turned down a request from Hockey Canada to play for the Canadian Olympic team this February in PyeongChang, South Korea.
At the recent Men’s U20 World Junior Championships in Buffalo Makar won gold with Canada and was named to the all-star team on defence, and led Canadian defensemen in scoring - and was tied with Czech Libor Hajek overall - with three goals and five assists.
It appears that Makar doesn’t want to miss any more school this years, a responsible decision for the young man. That could also mean he’s planning on going back for another year at Massachusetts, if he was planning on leaving missing another two weeks wouldn’t matter much.
