BOSTON — The Boston Bruins possessed the puck just long enough Thursday night to fend off the Colorado Avalanche at TD Garden.
Boston raced to an early lead en route to a 5-2 victory, though the eventual game-winning goal did not come without some controversy. Colorado, in its third game in four nights without two of its top-four forwards, played well outside of the first five and final five minutes of the contest.
Jake DeBrusk put the Bruins ahead 3-1 late in the opening period when he deflected a shot from the right point past Alexandar Georgiev.
