ST. LOUIS — For two seasons — 2010-11 and 2011-12 — Jared Bednar was the head coach of the St. Louis Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.
One of his goalies for both seasons was a young Jake Allen, fresh from his major junior career with the Drummondville Voltigeurs and starting on the path that would land him in the NHL full-time by 2014-15.
Allen had 22 saves in the Blues’ 5-1 win over the Avalanche Sunday, and he needed a solid game after allowing nine goals on 46 shots in his previous two outings.
