The Avalanche’s All-Star Game ride is now a two-seater: Colorado winger Mikko Rantanen will join center Nathan MacKinnon at the 2019 NHL All-Star Game on Jan. 26, the Avs announced late Wednesday afternoon.
It’s the first time two Avalanche players have been selected for the mid-winter classic since 2010-11, when Paul Stastny and Matt Duchene participated in the event. MacKinnon, 23, had been voted by fans to serve as the captain of the Central Division side, the first Avs player to wear the “C” during All-Star weekend since Joe Sakic in 2007.
