NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Avalanche general manager Joe Sakic is unhappy with the NHL Department of Player Safety for not taking action on Nashville’s Ryan Johansen for his dangerous hit on Colorado defenseman Tyson Barrie in Thursday’s Game 1 at Bridgestone Arena.
Sakic believes Johansen’s blind-side contact to the head was as bad or worse than the one that got Los Angeles defenseman Drew Doughty suspended one game for his hit on Vegas’ William Carrier on Wednesday in Game 1 of that series.
“You saw what happened to Doughty. There’s got to be some consistency,” Sakic said from Bridgestone Arena during an optional Avalanche practice.
