Jared Bednar may not want to lean as much on his top line, but the white-hot trio doesn’t seem to mind.
The Avalanche took advantage of an early penalty and used their surging top line to gain an early lead en route to a 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers at the Wells Fargo Center on Monday. Mikkho Rantanen took a pass from Nate MacKinnon to beat Flyers’ goalie Brian Elliott with 16:37 left in the first period.
MacKinnon and Rantanen are now tied for the franchise’s longest point streak to start a season (9) with Joe Sakic and Anton Stansy, who did it in 1988-89.
