DENVER — The Avalanche reached the halfway point of the 2016-17 season Saturday afternoon with a thud, taking a 2-0 lead before falling 3-2 to the Nashville Predators at the Pepsi Center.

The collapse came after Gabe Landeskog's bad-angle shot from near the goal line found its way in to open the scoring at 4:07 of the first and defenseman Francois Beauchemin's shot from the top of the slot off a Mikhail Grigorenko faceoff win put the Avs up by two at 3:21 of the second.

Cody McLeod, playing his first game for Nashville after his Friday trade from Colorado, Mike Fisher and Filip Forsberg had the goals in the Predators' comeback.
