The Avalanche’s Rene Bourque, an undrafted forward from the University of Wisconsin, played his 700th career NHL game Tuesday at the Pepsi Center. The milestone came against the Chicago Blackhawks, the team in which he made his big-league debut in 2005.
Bourque, 36, entered the game as Colorado’s third-leading goal-scorer, with nine, having played 39 of the first 41 games. He joined the team in September on a professional tryout contract, and signed the minimum one-year, $650,000 deal before opening night.
Bourque is with his sixth NHL team. He also played for the Flames, Canadiens, Ducks and Blue Jackets.
