The NHL’s leader in assists and points was recognized as the top player of October.
Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen was named the NHL first star for October after tallying 16 assists and 21 points in 12 games, helping lead Colorado to a 7-3-2 record. He has recorded at least one point in every game except for one this season.
The Avs’ first line of Rantanen, Gabe Landeskog and Nathan MacKinnon have combined for 24 goals, 31 assists and 55 points.
Since the start of the 2017-18 season, the 22-year-old has recorded 105 points (34 goals, 71 assists), eighth most in the league.
