The Edmonton Oilers earlier this week named center Connor McDavid — who was 19 years and 266 days old at the time — their captain, and he was 20 days younger than Landeskog was when was selected to wear the “C” for Colorado in September 2012. At the time, Landeskog, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 draft, was coming off winning the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s rookie of the year.
