DENVER — On the morning Colorado Avalanche veterans reported for physicals and testing at the Pepsi Center, new coach Jared Bednar on Thursday said that Gabe Landeskog will remain Colorado's captain and that he considers the alternate captain positions — previously held by Jarome Iginla and Cody McLeod — to be up for grabs.
"I think that we're good with our captain, with Gabe," Bednar said. "He's the captain of our team. The assistant captains and what we do with the rest of the group will be evaluated and then we'll make decisions on that later on and whether it's two guys, four guys, all the things that we want to consider as an organization .
