DETROIT — Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon will miss Wednesday’s game against Detroit with a minor lower-body injury, coach Jared Bednar said after the morning skate at Little Ceasars Arena.
Also, rookie defenseman Bo Byram is back skating on his own in his latest effort to recover from multiple concussions, Bednar said.
The Avs are resting MacKinnon in the hope he can play in this weekend’s consecutive-night stretch against the visiting Winnipeg Jets on Friday and at the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday.
“He’s dealing with an issue that’s not getting any better,” Bednar said of MacKinnon, who recently missed four games before and after the All-Star break because of a broken nose/concussion.
