The Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday acquired defenseman Kevin Connauton and a 2020 third-round draft pick from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for center Carl Soderberg.
Connauton, 29, has played six NHL seasons between three teams — St. Louis Blues, Dallas Stars and Arizona — and last season recorded eight points (seven assists and one goal) over 50 games played. Connauton, a pending 2020 unrestricted free agent, brings a veteran defensive presence among a roster of talented but youthful Avs defenders.
Soderberg, 33, played the last four seasons in Colorado and performed arguably his best last year with 49 points (23 goals and 26 assists) in 82 games.
