Although it was expected, Tyson Jost, the Colorado Avalanche’s top forward prospect, is set to play for Team Canada in the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championship. The international event, scheduled to be played between December 26th, 2016 and January 5th, 2017 will feature ten teams in two groupings comprised of the best junior players in the world.
Jost, an 18-year-old center from St. Albert, Alberta, was selected tenth overall by the Avalanche during the 2016 draft. After a successful junior career in which he scored 149 points in 97 games for the BCHL’s Penticton Vees, he committed to the University of North Dakota, where he is second on the team in scoring as a freshman with 18 points in 17 games.
