The Avalanche was great in Wednesday’s Game 1 — particularly in the final five minutes. In 60 minutes Friday in Game 2, the Avs played like their B-team against the underdog Arizona Coyotes but nevertheless take a 2-0 series lead into the fast-approaching Game 3 Saturday.
Great teams find ways to win and advance, and Friday’s performance certainly reinforced that Colorado is on track to go rounds in these Stanley Cup playoffs.
For the second straight game, the Avs’ game-winning goal came in the waning minutes of regulation. This time, it was Andre Burakovsky pouncing on a rebound from Game 1 hero Nazem Kadri with 2:53 remaining as the Avs snapped a 2-2 tie and beat the Coyotes 3-2 in their first-round series at the Western Conference hub in Edmonton.
