Two terrific comebacks from both teams defined the late fireworks Wednesday night at Ball Arena.
In what turned into a three-point game, the Columbus Blue Jackets got it done in overtime to take two of three from the Avalanche.
With a chance to climb above .500 for the first time since winning its season opener, the injury-plagued Avs blew a 2-0 lead by allowing four consecutive goals before rallying to force overtime with late tallies from J.T. Compher and Bo Byram.
The Blue Jackets went on to score 1:12 into overtime for a 5-4 victory.
Forwards Jake Bean and Cole Sillinger each scored two goals for Columbus, which got the winner from Bean in OT.
