The Colorado Avalanche signed Taylor Makar to his first professional contract on Monday.
It is a one-year entry-level contract for the 2025-26 season. He will join the Colorado Eagles on an amateur tryout contract for the rest of this season. This makes him eligible to play for the Eagles immediately and during the Calder Cup Playoffs.
Makar, who turned 24 years old earlier this month, was a seventh-round pick by the Avalanche in the 2021 NHL draft. The younger brother of Avs star Cale Makar, Taylor had a breakout season with Maine after transferring from UMass.
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound forward had 18 goals and 30 points for the Black Bears, who lost Friday night to Penn State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
