Avalanche signs Sheldon Dries to 1-year contract

The Avalanche signed forward Sheldon Dries to a one-year contract on Thursday.

The two-way deal is guaranteed to pay Dries at least $450,000, with the second-year forward eligible to make as much as $735,000 depending upon how much time he spends with the Avs, a team source confirmed.

Dries, 25, tallied three goals and three assists in 40 games for Colorado in his rookie season last year. He signed with Colorado as an undrafted free agent.

He also recorded 11 points (three goals and eight assists) in 25 games with the franchise’s AHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles.
