The Avalanche Friday signed 22-year-old Russian defenseman Andrei Mironov to a two-year entry-level contract.
The signing came after the Avalanche front office received the long-awaited official notification of Moscow Dynamo’s release of Mironov from his contract with the Kontinental League team.
The 6-foot-2, 196-pound Mironov was passed over in his first two years of eligibility for the NHL draft before the Avalanche claimed him in the fourth round in 2015, at No. 101 overall, after his third season with Moscow Dynamo.
In five seasons with the KHL team, Mironov has 12 goals and 28 assists.
