The Avalanche has agreed to terms with forward Matt Nieto, who signed a two-year contract worth $3.95 million. Nieto, 25, was a restricted free agent who had signed one-year deals the previous two seasons. He made $1 million with Colorado last season.
“Matt brings speed and offensive depth to our lineup,” Avs general manager Joe Sakic said in a release. “He adds a lot of energy to our team and was a big part of our penalty kill this past season. We’re excited to have him back for the next two years.”
Nieto had a career-high 15 goals last season, his first full year with Colorado after being acquired from San Jose during the 2016-17 campaign.
