Avalanche shut out by Winnipeg in Semyon Varlamov’s return

Winnipeg, Manitoba — The Colorado Avalanche just couldn’t catch a break Saturday night in Winnipeg, falling 3-0 to the Jets.

Semyon Varlamov was solid in his first game back after missing 11 games with a groin injury suffered against the Jets on January 2 in Denver. Varlamov stopped 29 of the 31 shots he faced, with little to no chance at all on the two pucks the Jets were able to get past him.

The Jets struck early, capitalizing just 1:04 into an early first-period power play with Mikko Rantanen in the box for tripping.
