As the Pittsburgh Penguins and San Jose Sharks prepare to wrap up the 2015-2016 NHL season, the Colorado Avalanche are preparing for a long and busy offseason, made longer by the return of the World Cup of Hockey this fall. The Avalanche will start their preseason on September 27th, almost a full week later than last year, and conclude with the Frozen Fury on October 8th, the same night they opened last year’s regular season.
The 2016 World Cup of Hockey will run from September 17th to October 1st and feature Matt Duchene, Gabriel Landeskog, Erik Johnson, Semyon Varlamov, Nathan MacKinnon, Carl Soderberg, and Mikkel Boedker playing for their respective national teams.
