Milan Hejduk had a memorable 14-year career with the Avalanche, but one of his top hockey moments occurred after he retired from the NHL in 2013.
Hejduk gladly came out of retirement to join some of his famous Avalanche teammates in facing a Detroit Red Wings alumni team. The Avalanche group won the game 5-2, with 43,000 fans filling Coors Field.
“I had watched some of the outdoor games on television but had never played in one,” Hejduk said. “It was a wonderful experience.”
The game was played Feb. 26 and the temperature was unseasonably warm.
