The Avalanche on Thursday recalled Colorado Eagles’ leading scorer Dylan Sikura — the likely replacement for Nathan MacKinnon in Friday’s game in Chicago.
The Avs did not practice Thursday ahead of their flight to Chicago. The team declined to confirm if MacKinnon — who suffered a frightening upper-body injury in Wednesday’s 4-3 overtime victory against the visiting Boston Bruins — would not travel.
Sikura, who is in his first season with the Avs/Eagles, leads the red-hot AHL team with 14 goals and 31 points in 29 games. Both the Avs and Eagles are on league-leading eight-game winning streaks.
