While it’s true we’re not getting to see any playoff action this year, Colorado Avalanche fans have the opportunity to see a handful of Avs playing at the IIHF World Championship. The championships are an annual event dating back to the 1920s. Play starts with a preliminary round between 16 teams. The top eight teams participate in the playoff medal round. Winner takes all, getting crowned World Champion.
This year’s Championship takes place in Prague and Ostrava, Czech Republic.
