It was a celebration for the ages.
On Thursday morning, a crowd that Denver police estimated eventually grew to 500,000 migrated downtown to celebrate the Stanley Cup champions. From daybreak, fans began lining up along orange fence posts surrounding streets downtown in anticipation of seeing their Avs, and the Stanley Cup.
As the parade arrived, at around 10 a.m., quiet chants of “Lets Go Avs!” began and slowly grew louder until consuming the surroundings as the parade vehicles loaded with members of the organization made their way to Civic Center Park. Upon arrival, a sea of burgundy-and-blue filled up the green space.
