The Colorado Eagles, the new AHL affiliate of the Avalanche, have hired Greg Cronin as the team’s head coach.
Cronin spent the past four years on the New York Islanders’ coaching staff, serving as the associate head coach last season. He’s also been an assistant coach for the Maple Leafs and has previous head coaching experience with the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers (2003-05).
“We feel Greg is the perfect fit to lead the Eagles as they begin their first season in the American Hockey League,” Avalanche general manager Joe Sakic said in a release. “He has an extensive coaching background, including time as a head coach in the AHL.
