The Avalanche is moving its American Hockey League ties to San Antonio next season, and the Columbus Blue Jackets will take over the Lake Erie Monsters in Cleveland.
The San Antonio Rampage is currently the AHL affiliate for the Florida Panthers, who last month signed an agreement with the Portland Pirates.
The switch from Cleveland to San Antonio gives the Avs easier travel for executives and players going back-and-forth to Denver.
Official announcements of the AHL moves are scheduled Friday.
Lake Erie is in the AHL's Midwest Division and San Antonio plays out of the West Division, along with the Texas Stars, Oklahoma City Barons, Charlotte Checkers and Iowa Wild.
