Having scored 10 goals in its first two games, the Avalanche will come off a modest break and make little changes to its lineup for Wednesday's game against the visiting Boston Bruins.
Following Tuesday's practice, Colorado coach Patrick Roy said defenseman Nate Guenin, who began the year on the second pairing, will be scratched in favor of Brad Stuart. Stuart will partner with Nick Holden as the third pairing.
Forward Mikhail Grigorenko and defensemen Brandon Gormley will be scratched for the third time.
The Avs had Sunday off after beating the Dallas Stars 6-3 on Saturday, and then practiced Monday and Tuesday.
