CALGARY, Alberta — Avalanche coach Jared Bednar and his staff spent Friday morning studying video from the club’s 4-0 loss to Calgary in Thursday’s Game 1 of the playoff series.
The consensus: Colorado made life too easy for Flames goalie Mike Smith, who wasn’t continually peppered on the same rush and saw the puck with relative ease.
“We have to make sure we do a better job on our forecheck and (other) offensive-zone play in possessing the puck,” Bednar said. “It’s easier said than done because they’ll clamp down on you in the offensive zone.
