Calvin Pickard was scheduled to be back in the Avalanche net Wednesday night against the Vancouver Canucks, with 21-year-old Spencer Martin backing him up after getting consecutive starts in the home-and-home set with the San Jose Sharks.
It’s the final game for the Avalanche before the all-star break, and on Wednesday morning, Colorado coach Jared Bednar acknowledged uncertainty about when — or even if — Semyon Varlamov would be available again.
This follows the Avalanche’s declaration last week that Varlamov, who has missed several stretches of the season because of groin muscle issues, would be shut down at least through the all-star break.
