Avalanche Journal: Dropping Matt Duchene to Avalanche’s 3rd line makes no sense

Trying to get Matt Duchene going offensively by dropping him to the Avalanche’s third line and having him center Joe Colborne and Carl Soderberg makes no sense.

Zero, zip, nada sense.

Yet that’s what Colorado coach Jared Bednar did Saturday night against the Ottawa Senators.

In fact, my first assumption was this was punitive, rather than an attempt to get Duchene jump-started.

For example, that Duchene had missed a team meeting or he had slashed Bednar’s tires in the Pepsi Center players’ and staff parking garage that recently opened after what seemed like 27 years of construction.
