The Avalanche suited up two former Montreal defensemen Tuesday against the Canadiens.
One is obvious: Mark Barberio was claimed on waivers from Montreal last week and was playing his second game for the Avalanche against his former (and also his hometown) team.
The other?
Francois Beauchemin, whose stay with the Canadiens was short-lived — so short-lived, it’s usually forgotten.
Beauchemin, now 36, was raised in Sorel, about 60 miles northeast of Montreal. At age 13, he celebrated when the Canadiens, with Patrick Roy in goal, in 1993 won the Stanley Cup for the second time in eight seasons.
