Similar to its victory Thursday on opening night, the Avalanche improved to 2-0 on Saturday night by scoring regularly, never trailing and getting excellent third-period goaltending from Philipp Grubauer.

The Avs, in front of another sellout crowd at the Pepsi Center, defeated the Minnesota Wild 4-2 by again scoring in every period. Top-line forwards Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen and Gabe Landeskog had another excellent game, combining for two goals and five points. MacKinnon had two assists, Rantanen a goal and a helper, and Landeskog scored late in the third period for a 3-2 lead.
