Avalanche improves to 10-3-1 in hockey's toughest division with 2-1 win at WPG

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA — Nashville has two games in hand, but the Avalanche on Monday again leapfrogged the Predators for the last Western Conference wild-card spot. At the same time, the Avs increased their lead to four points over division rival Winnipeg.

It was another good night for Colorado against Central Division foes, improving to 10-3-1 in hockey’s toughest loop. The key players in the Avs’ 2-1 win at MTS Center were center Carl Soderberg (goal, assist) and goalie Semyon Varlamov (36 saves).
