Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar has been voted a finalist for the Jack Adams Award, which is given to the head coach that has contributed the most to his team’s success. The other two finalists are Bruce Cassidy of the Boston Bruins and Gerard Gallant of the Vegas Golden Knights.
Bednar led the Avs to the playoffs for the first time since 2014 back when Patrick Roy was the head coach. This was a bounce-back season for the Avs who finished with 95 points, compared to 48 two seasons ago.
If Bednar wins he would become the third coach in franchise history to do so, joining Roy (2013-14) and Marc Crawford (1994-95 season with the Quebec Mordiques.
