VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Derrick Pouliot scored on the power play in overtime to give the Vancouver Canucks a 7-6 win over the Avalanche on Friday night at Rogers Arena.
Alexander Kerfoot was in the penalty box after hauling down Canucks rookie Elias Pettersson on a partial breakaway at 3:36 of OT, when Pouliot’s rebound bounced off defenseman Gabriel Bourque, off the post and in.
“It’s been a weird seven periods,” said goalie Philipp Grubauer, who stopped 22 of 29 shots. “It wasn’t the best road trip, to be sure. We’ll need to keep working, if we’re smart as a team we’ll learn from this road trip, learn from our mistakes.
