PITTSBURGH — The Avalanche security blanket that is Kurtis MacDermid was again among the first players on the ice for Wednesday’s practice at PPG Paints Arena — about 14 hours after he logged a team-low 3:47 in Colorado’s 6-4 victory over the Penguins.
“He’s one of our hardest-working guys,” Avs coach Jared Bednar said of MacDermid post-practice.
MacDermid, a natural defenseman who can play forward — and a feared fighter from either position — signed a two-year contract extension worth $1.975 million with the Avs before Tuesday’s game. He was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in July.
