Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog calls it a “mental break.”
And it comes at a good time.
Colorado finished off Calgary in Game 5 of their first-round Stanley Cup Playoffs matchup on Friday night, rested Saturday for travel back to Denver and received an additional day off on Easter Sunday. A rare hockey reprieve as the Avs wait to learn their Round 2 playoff opponent.
“It’s been every other day since the bye week (Jan. 24-Feb. 1) basically,” Landeskog said as Colorado returned to the practice ice Monday.
The initial benefit, naturally, was team health as defenseman Sam Girard continues injury rehabilitation (upper-body) and nearly every player nurses aches and pains.
