At least it was closer than that game in Cleveland.
But not by much.
The previously struggling Nashville Predators on Tuesday night got two goals from Craig Smith and 28 saves from goalie Pekka Rinne and blasted the Avalanche 5-1 at the Pepsi Center.
The Predators were 0-2-1 on the previous three stops on a five-game trip and 2-5-1 overall, but they never trailed in beating Colorado.
The loss was the third in four games for the Avalanche and dropped Colorado back to 4-4 for the season, with a Thursday night game at Chicago coming up next.
