Former Colorado Avalanche draft pick Cam Morrison has signed a two-year entry level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. The Aurora, Ontario native finished last season with 13 goals and 27 points in in 37 games during his last year of NCAA eligibility.
Drafted in the second round - 40th overall - of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft out of Youngstown of the USHL, Morrison will turn pro next season after finishing four years at the University of Notre Dame.
Morrison is a big, intelligent winger who doesn’t have a very high ceiling as a professional player but he is the kind of strong skating power forward that has the opportunity to carve out a journeyman career in the NHL as a bottom-6 depth player.
