Long before he joined the Avalanche, Colorado head coach Jared Bednar was a stalwart of the ECHL.
Bednar on Monday was announced as one of the four inductees to the ECHL Hall of Fame’s 2020 class, joining Dany Bousquet, Derek Clancey and Glen Metropolit.
Bednar, 47, spent 15 years in the league, first as a player and later as a coach. He won three Kelly Cup championships during his tenure, twice as a defenseman with South Carolina in 1997 and 2001, and again as the team’s head coach in 2009.
“It’s a part of my life that I’m real proud about,” Bednar said in an interview with NHL.
