Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar couldn’t have asked for a much better result from the NHL trade deadline.
General manager Joe Sakic added some enticing side pieces to an already deep roster, while also keeping the nucleus of Bednar’s team intact.
Monday’s additions were forwards Artturi Lehkonen from the Canadiens and Andrew Cogliano from the Sharks. Manson was acquired from the Ducks on March 14 and forward Nico Sturm the following day from the Wild.
The Avs only lost one rostered player (forward Tyson Jost to Minnesota for Sturm), with prospects and draft picks the main trade chips used to strengthen the bottom-six forwards and depth on the blueline.
