WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Playing simultaneously with the Minnesota Wild — the team looking to prevent the Avalanche from making the playoffs — Colorado failed the test Saturday against the Western Conference's last-place team.
The Avs blew a two-goal lead and lost 3-2 to the Winnipeg Jets at MTS Centre. At the same time, Minnesota won in regulation at Montreal to climb into a 74-point tie with Colorado for the eighth and final Western Conference playoff spot. The Wild has one game in hand.
The Avs, who led 2-0 in the second period, are idle until Wednesday, when they play at Vancouver.
