The Avalanche on Friday acquired Austrian forward Andre Burakovsky, 24, from the Washington Capitals for minor-league forward Scott Kosmachuk and second- and third-round picks in the 2020 draft.
Burakovsky, a restricted free agent who made $3 million last season, had 25 points (12 goals) in 76 games for the Capitals in 2018-19. He helped Washington win the Stanley Cup in 2018 with four points (two goals) in 13 playoff games. He missed the first two rounds of the postseason because of injury.
Burakovsky, 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, was selected by Washington in the first round (23rd overall) in the 2013 draft.
